Description

Old Bay Baked Oyster Crackers are a crispy, buttery snack coated with bold Chesapeake-inspired seasoning. They’re easy to make, perfect for parties, game days, soups, or snacking by the handful.

Ingredients

4 cups oyster crackers

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

1/2 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and lemon zest if using.
  3. Place the oyster crackers in a large mixing bowl and drizzle with the melted butter. Toss until evenly coated.
  4. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the crackers and toss again until all crackers are evenly coated.
  5. Spread the crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring halfway through, until crisp and lightly toasted.
  7. Allow the crackers to cool completely on the baking sheet, then sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired.
  8. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes

Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes for extra heat.

Sprinkle with grated Parmesan immediately after baking for a cheesy variation.

Use mini saltines or other bite-sized crackers if oyster crackers are unavailable.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.

Refresh softened crackers in a 300°F oven for about 5 minutes.

Freeze in an airtight container for up to 2 months and thaw at room temperature before serving.
