Ingredients
- 6 ounces vegetable or non-alcoholic broth (room temperature)
- 8 ounces mild cheddar cheese, freshly grated
- 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Grate the Cheeses: Grate both mild and sharp cheddar cheeses using a box grater or food processor.
- Combine Ingredients: In a food processor, combine the grated cheeses, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, hot sauce (if using), and freshly ground black pepper.
- Add Broth: With the food processor running, slowly pour in the room temperature broth and continue processing until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Adjust Consistency: If the spread is too thick, add more broth, a tablespoon at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
- Chill: Transfer the pub cheese to a serving bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve: Serve chilled with crackers, pretzels, fresh veggies, or use as a sandwich spread.
Notes
- Spicy Kick: For added heat, add a teaspoon of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- Herb Infusion: Stir in fresh herbs like chives or parsley for extra flavor.
- Smoked Flavor: Use smoked cheddar or add a few drops of liquid smoke for a smoky twist.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
