Description

These Garlic Bread Rolls are soft, fluffy, and infused with the rich flavor of garlic and fresh herbs. Brushed with a fragrant garlic herb butter after baking, they make the perfect side dish for any meal, especially during holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.

Ingredients

  • 4½ tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 3½ cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup whole or 2% milk, warmed to 110°F
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 beaten egg, for brushing the tops

Instructions

  1. Prepare Garlic Butter – Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients – In a large bowl, combine flour, parsley, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients – Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the warmed milk, cooled garlic butter, and egg. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the Dough – Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First Rise – Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the Rolls – Punch down the dough and divide into 12 portions. Shape into balls and place in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan.
  7. Second Rise – Cover and let the dough rise for 30-45 minutes, until doubled in size.
  8. Preheat Oven – Preheat to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake – Brush rolls with a beaten egg and bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
  10. Brush with Garlic Butter – Immediately brush with additional garlic butter after baking.
  11. Cool and Serve – Let rolls cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

  • Cheesy Garlic Rolls: Add shredded Parmesan cheese to the dough for a cheesy twist.
  • Herb Infusion: Try using rosemary or thyme for an aromatic variation.
  • Spicy Garlic Rolls: Add red pepper flakes to the garlic butter for a spicy kick.
