Description
A café-style copycat Starbucks grilled cheese made with sourdough bread, gooey mozzarella and white cheddar, and a crispy Parmesan-butter crust.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons salted butter, room temperature
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
4 slices sourdough bread
3 slices mozzarella cheese
3 slices mild white cheddar cheese
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the room temperature butter and grated Parmesan cheese until evenly combined.
- Place 1 1/2 slices of mozzarella and 1 1/2 slices of white cheddar onto one slice of sourdough bread. Top with another slice of bread. Repeat to assemble the second sandwich.
- Spread the Parmesan butter mixture evenly over the outside-facing sides of each sandwich.
- Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat.
- Place sandwiches on the hot surface and cook for 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip sandwiches, tent loosely with foil, and reduce heat to medium-low.
- Cook until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve immediately.
Notes
Tenting with foil helps melt the cheese without burning the bread.
Sourdough bread provides the best texture and crispiness.
Sharp white cheddar can be substituted for a bolder flavor.
Best served fresh for optimal crispness and melt.
