Ingredients
- 8 oz macaroni or similarly shaped pasta
- 1 round block of Boursin cheese (any flavor)
- 1 cup freshly shredded white cheddar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 – 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 4 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Make the Sauce: In the pasta pot (or another pot), melt 2 tbsp butter. Whisk in the flour until smooth. Slowly pour in the heavy cream and stir in the Boursin cheese and cheddar until smooth. Add salt to taste. If the sauce thickens too much, add milk to reach desired consistency.
- Combine with Pasta: Pour the creamy sauce over the cooked pasta and mix well.
- Prepare Breadcrumbs: In a separate pan, toast breadcrumbs in the remaining 2 tbsp of melted butter until golden brown. Sprinkle the toasted breadcrumbs over the mac and cheese before serving.
Notes
- Fresh herbs like thyme, basil, or rosemary can enhance the flavor of the sauce.
- For a spicy twist, add red pepper flakes or hot sauce to the sauce.
- You can make this dish ahead of time and bake it with breadcrumbs when ready to serve.
