Description

A crisp and refreshing fall mocktail made with fresh apple cider, sparkling white grape juice, citrus, and real maple syrup. A cinnamon-sugar-and-salt rim adds a festive seasonal finish.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon fresh pressed apple cider, for the rim

1 tablespoon granulated white sugar

¾ teaspoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon fine sea salt

4 ounces fresh pressed apple cider

1½ ounces sparkling white grape juice

1 ounce orange juice

1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice

½ teaspoon real maple syrup

Thin apple slices, optional garnish

Cinnamon stick, optional garnish

Star anise, optional garnish

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 tablespoon apple cider onto a small plate.
  2. On a second small plate, combine the sugar, cinnamon, and sea salt.
  3. Dip the rim of a glass into the apple cider, allow the excess to drip off, then dip the wet rim into the cinnamon-sugar-and-salt mixture. Set the prepared glass aside.
  4. Add 4 ounces apple cider, sparkling white grape juice, orange juice, lime juice, and maple syrup to a cocktail shaker.
  5. Fill the shaker halfway with ice, cover securely, and shake for about 30 seconds until thoroughly chilled.
  6. Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice and strain the drink over the ice.
  7. Garnish with thin apple slices, a cinnamon stick, and star anise if desired, then serve immediately.

Notes

For four drinks, use 16 ounces apple cider, 6 ounces sparkling white grape juice, 4 ounces orange juice, 4 ounces lime juice, and 2 teaspoons maple syrup.

For a big batch, combine the ingredients without ice and refrigerate for up to 6 hours. For maximum fizz, add the sparkling white grape juice closer to serving.

Prepare rimmed glasses no more than 1 hour before serving and keep them in a cool place.

Adjust the maple syrup to taste depending on the sweetness of the apple cider.

Add extra fresh lime juice for more tartness or orange juice for a softer citrus flavor.

For extra sparkle, add an additional splash of sparkling white grape juice immediately before serving.

The cinnamon rim can be omitted if desired.

Serve cold over fresh ice and add garnishes immediately before serving.
