Description
Zero Carb Bread is a keto-friendly, gluten-free bread alternative made with egg whites, Greek yogurt (or cottage cheese), and cream of tartar. It’s a high-protein, low-carb bread that’s perfect for those following a clean eating, paleo, or low-carb lifestyle.
Ingredients
8 large egg whites
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
½ cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt or fat-free cottage cheese
¼ teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
- Whip the Egg Whites: In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar together until stiff peaks form, about 5-7 minutes.
- Blend the Yogurt or Cottage Cheese: In a separate bowl, blend the Greek yogurt (or cottage cheese) with sea salt until smooth.
- Fold the Mixtures Together: Gently fold the yogurt or cottage cheese mixture into the whipped egg whites, being careful not to overmix.
- Bake the Bread: Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the bread is golden and set in the center.
- Cool the Bread: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
For a creamier texture, add a splash of heavy cream to the yogurt mixture.
Try adding herbs like rosemary or thyme for a savory twist.
For a sweet variation, add cinnamon or a few drops of stevia to the mixture.
For a vegan option, substitute the Greek yogurt with coconut yogurt or cashew cream.
