Description

White Pizza Sauce is a creamy and flavorful alternative to traditional tomato sauce, made with butter, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and seasonings. This rich and velvety sauce is perfect for homemade pizzas, pasta, and even as a dip. Quick to make and incredibly versatile, it’s a must-have for pizza lovers!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups half-and-half or whole milk
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Sauté Garlic:

    • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
    • Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
  • Make the Roux:

    • Sprinkle in the flour and whisk continuously for another minute to cook out the raw flour taste.
  • Add Dairy:

    • Slowly pour in the half-and-half or milk, whisking constantly to keep the sauce smooth.
  • Season the Sauce:

    • Stir in onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Continue to cook, whisking frequently, until the sauce begins to simmer and thickens (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Incorporate Cheese:

    • Remove from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and smooth.
  • Cool Slightly & Serve:

    • Let the sauce sit for a few minutes to thicken further before using on pizza, pasta, or as a dip.

Notes

  • Make It Dairy-Free: Use plant-based butter and unsweetened almond or coconut milk, plus dairy-free Parmesan.
  • Adjust Thickness: Simmer longer for a thicker sauce, or add extra milk to thin it out.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months
