Description

Chewy, buttery cookies made with tart dried cranberries and sweet white chocolate chips. Festive for the holidays yet perfect year-round, these cookies are simple to make, full of flavor, and always a crowd favorite.

Ingredients

1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

1/2 cup (100g) light brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

3/4 cup (90g) dried cranberries

3/4 cup (130g) white chocolate chips or chunks

1/4 tsp orange zest (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until creamy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  4. Fold in dried cranberries, white chocolate chips, and optional orange zest.
  5. Cover and chill dough for 30 minutes (optional, but helps cookies hold shape).
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, place 2 inches apart on baking sheet, and bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are set and centers remain soft.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Add pecans or walnuts for extra crunch.

Drizzle cooled cookies with melted white chocolate for extra sweetness.

Swap in dark or milk chocolate for a different flavor profile.

For more citrus flavor, increase orange zest or add lemon zest.

To keep cookies soft, store with a slice of bread in the container.
