Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups almond milk (or any plant-based milk)
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons melted coconut oil or canola oil
1 pinch salt
2 teaspoons natural vanilla extract
3 tablespoons coconut sugar or brown sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened apple sauce
Instructions
- Mix the Batter: In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients for the waffles. Whisk the mixture until smooth and free of lumps. The batter will be thin, which is normal.
- Heat the Waffle Maker: Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Grease the waffle iron with coconut oil or canola oil on both sides.
- Cook the Waffles: Pour the batter into the preheated waffle maker and cook for about 5 minutes or until golden and crispy. The cooking time may vary by machine.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve the waffles immediately with maple syrup, fresh berries, or fruits of your choice.
Notes
Store leftover waffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
For freezing, place waffles in a freezer bag and store for up to 2 months. Reheat in a toaster or oven until crispy again.
