Description

A fresh and vibrant tuna ceviche made with sushi-grade ahi tuna cured in lime juice, mixed with crisp vegetables, creamy avocado, and herbs for a light, refreshing dish.

Ingredients

1 lb sushi-grade ahi tuna, diced into 1/2-inch cubes

1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 3 limes)

2 tbsp finely diced jalapeño, seeds removed

1/2 cup diced red onion

1/2 cup finely diced cucumber, seeds removed

1/2 tsp salt, or to taste

1 large avocado, diced (about 1 cup)

1/3 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  1. Dice the ahi tuna into 1/2-inch cubes using a sharp knife.
  2. Place tuna in a medium bowl and add lime juice, jalapeño, red onion, cucumber, and salt.
  3. Gently stir until tuna is fully coated with lime juice.
  4. Cover tightly and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Do not marinate longer than 3 hours.
  6. Just before serving, gently fold in diced avocado and chopped cilantro.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  8. Serve immediately with tortilla chips.

Notes

Always use sushi-grade tuna for safety.

Add avocado and cilantro just before serving.

Best enjoyed fresh.

Lime juice will continue to cure the tuna over time.
