Description

Enhance your corned beef experience with this tangy and slightly sweet mustard sauce. This family recipe adds a delightful zing to your meal, making it perfect for any occasion featuring corned beef

Ingredients

  • 1½ tablespoons salted butter
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup prepared yellow mustard
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¾ cup cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat; remove from heat.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, white sugar, mustard, egg, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in the vinegar until well combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into the melted butter in the saucepan.
  4. Return the saucepan to medium heat and stir until the sauce reaches a boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer for an additional 3 minutes.

Notes

  • Spicy Kick: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce for extra heat.
  • Honey Mustard Twist: Replace white sugar with honey for a milder, honey-mustard flavor.
  • Dijon Upgrade: Substitute prepared yellow mustard with Dijon mustard for a sharper taste.
  • Thickening Tip: If the sauce is too thin, continue simmering until the desired consistency is reached.
