Description

“Taco Slaw Cabbage Cilantro is a vibrant and refreshing slaw that adds the perfect crunch to tacos or serves as a side dish. With its crisp cabbage, fresh cilantro, and tangy lime dressing, it’s the ideal complement to your favorite Mexican-inspired meals. Quick to prepare and packed with fresh ingredients, this zesty slaw will elevate any dish.”

Ingredients

Slaw:

6 tightly packed cups green cabbage, finely shredded (approximately 1/4 medium head)

1 cup green onions, thinly sliced on the diagonal

1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves, finely chopped

Dressing:

1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt

2 tablespoons mayonnaise or 1 tablespoon olive oil

2 teaspoons finely grated lime zest

1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt or 1/4 teaspoon table salt

Instructions

  • Make the dressing: In a large mixing bowl, combine sour cream (or yogurt), mayonnaise (or olive oil), lime zest, lime juice, and salt. Whisk until smooth and well-blended.

  • Combine slaw ingredients: Add shredded cabbage, sliced green onions, and chopped cilantro to the bowl. Toss with large tongs or clean hands until the slaw is evenly coated with the dressing.

  • Let it rest: Set the slaw aside for at least 1 hour to allow the cabbage to wilt and absorb the flavors. Toss again just before serving.

Notes

For extra spice, add finely chopped jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the dressing.

Swap sour cream for Greek yogurt for a lighter version.

For added color and flavor, mix in some shredded red cabbage.

If cilantro isn’t your favorite, try parsley or mint for a different fresh twist
