Description

Sausage Brunch Bites are savory bite-sized snacks made with ground sausage, melty cheese, and a flaky crescent roll crust. Perfect for brunch, parties, or a quick breakfast.

Ingredients

1 pound of ground sausage (your choice: breakfast sausage, Italian sausage, etc.)

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite variety)

1 cup crescent roll dough (1 can)

1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 egg (for egg wash, optional)

Cooking spray or olive oil (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.
  2. Cook the Sausage: In a large pan, cook the ground sausage over medium heat until it’s browned and cooked through. Break it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Mix Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the cooked sausage, shredded cheese, green onions (if using), garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper. Mix until well blended.
  4. Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough on a flat surface and separate it into triangles as indicated on the packaging.
  5. Fill Dough: Take a triangle of dough and add about a tablespoon of the sausage mixture near the wider end. Roll the dough around the filling towards the pointed end, sealing the edges well.
  6. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the rolled bites on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each one.
  7. Optional Egg Wash: If desired, beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the tops of the bites for a golden finish.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown and flaky.
  9. Cool: Remove the bites from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Feel free to use spicy sausage or add red pepper flakes for some heat.

For a vegetarian version, use a plant-based sausage or sautéed vegetables.

Experiment with different cheeses like mozzarella, pepper jack, or cream cheese for unique flavors.

These bites can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until ready to bake.

Use puff pastry instead of crescent dough for an even flakier texture.
