Description

Roasted Fig & Goat Cheese Crostini is a perfect blend of sweet, savory, and creamy flavors, all elegantly served on crisp baguette slices. This appetizer not only looks impressive but also provides a delightful contrast of textures, from the caramelized figs to the creamy goat cheese and crunchy baguette. Ideal for parties, special occasions, or any time you want to enjoy a sophisticated snack, this dish highlights the beauty of fresh, seasonal ingredients and is sure to become a crowd favorite.

Ingredients

12 fresh figs, halved

1 tablespoon honey

1 tablespoon olive oil

Salt & pepper to taste

1 baguette, sliced into thin rounds

8 oz creamy goat cheese

¼ cup balsamic glaze

Fresh thyme leaves for garnish

Optional: crushed pistachios for added crunch

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, toss the halved figs with honey, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Make sure the figs are well coated with the mixture.
  3. Place the figs cut side up on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Roast in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the figs are caramelized and tender.
  4. While the figs are roasting, arrange the sliced baguette rounds on another baking sheet. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and season with a pinch of salt. Toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
  5. Remove the toasted baguette slices and roasted figs from the oven. Spread a generous layer of creamy goat cheese on each slice of baguette.
  6. Place a roasted fig half on top of the goat cheese.
  7. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the crostini and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves. For added texture, you can also sprinkle crushed pistachios on top.
  8. These crostini are best enjoyed fresh, so serve them right away while the bread is still warm!

Notes

Vegan Version: Use a plant-based goat cheese alternative and skip the honey for a vegan-friendly version of this dish.

Add Other Herbs: While thyme pairs beautifully, you can also experiment with fresh rosemary or basil for an alternative herbal note.
