Description
These homemade Pizza Rolls are a fun, quick snack made with crispy egg roll wrappers, stuffed with pepperoni, pizza sauce, and melted mozzarella. They’re perfect for satisfying your pizza cravings in bite-sized form.
Ingredients
2 quarts canola oil for frying
1 egg
3 tablespoons water
1 (16-ounce) jar pizza sauce
1 (8-ounce) package sliced pepperoni
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 (14-ounce) package egg roll wrappers
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 300°F (150°C).
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg and water together.
- Combine the pizza sauce and pepperoni in a blender or food processor. Process until the pepperoni is finely chopped and the sauce thickens. Transfer the sauce mixture to a large bowl, then stir in the shredded mozzarella.
- Lay out one egg roll wrapper on a flat surface. Place 1 tablespoon of the filling at the bottom center of the wrapper, leaving about ½ inch border on each side.
- Lightly brush the edges of the wrapper with the egg mixture. Fold over the sides of the wrapper, then roll it up to enclose the filling. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Deep fry the pizza rolls in batches until they are crisp and golden brown, about 5–9 minutes.
- Remove the pizza rolls from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
Notes
For a veggie version, add chopped mushrooms, onions, or bell peppers to the filling.
For a meatier option, use a combination of pepperoni, sausage, and ham.
For a healthier alternative, bake the rolls at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
These pizza rolls are perfect for meal prep and can be frozen for up to 2 months.
