Description

Mushroom Asiago Chicken is a creamy, comforting dish featuring tender chicken breasts simmered in a rich Asiago cheese sauce with sautéed mushrooms and garlic. This restaurant-quality meal comes together in just 45 minutes, making it perfect for both weeknight dinners and special occasions.

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup sliced mushrooms (cremini or button)

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Asiago cheese

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt to taste

Black pepper to taste

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts evenly with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5–7 minutes per side until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and sauté for 3–4 minutes until tender.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Let simmer gently for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Gradually stir in the grated Asiago cheese until fully melted and smooth.
  7. Return the chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over the top, and simmer for 2–3 minutes to absorb flavors.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

You can substitute chicken thighs for chicken breasts; adjust cooking time accordingly.

Parmesan or Romano cheese can replace Asiago if needed.

For a lighter sauce, replace part of the cream with chicken broth.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheat gently with a splash of cream or milk to maintain sauce consistency.

Cream-based sauces may slightly change texture if frozen and reheated.
