Description

Louisiana Voodoo Fries are crispy, seasoned fries topped with melted cheddar cheese, spicy ranch dressing, and savory toppings. This indulgent dish is the perfect snack, side, or appetizer, packed with bold flavors and a spicy kick.

Ingredients

4 large russet potatoes

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup sour cream

¼ cup sliced green onions

¼ cup halal-friendly ingredient (such as grilled chicken, turkey bacon, or sautéed mushrooms)

¼ cup spicy ranch dressing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the Potatoes: Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to resemble fries.
  3. Season the Fries: In a large bowl, toss the cut potatoes with vegetable oil, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Spread on Baking Sheet: Lay the seasoned fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake the Fries: Bake for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  6. Add Cheese: Remove from the oven, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese, and return to the oven for another 5 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  7. Prepare the Toppings: While the fries are baking, slice the green onions and prepare the halal-friendly ingredient.
  8. Serve: Once the cheese has melted, remove the fries from the oven. Drizzle with sour cream, top with sliced green onions, the halal-friendly topping, and spicy ranch dressing.
  9. Garnish and Enjoy: Add additional spices if desired, and serve immediately while hot and crispy!

Notes

For extra heat, increase the cayenne pepper, add a dash of hot sauce, or sprinkle chopped fresh chilies on top before serving.

For a vegetarian version, skip the halal-friendly meat or add extra veggies like jalapeños or bell peppers.

Use any cheese that melts well, like Monterey Jack, pepper jack, or mozzarella for different flavors.

For a lighter version, bake without cheese or use a lighter version of sour cream.
