Description

A hearty and comforting loose meat sandwich made with seasoned ground beef and onions, piled onto soft hamburger buns and topped with pickles or melted cheese for a simple yet satisfying meal.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 cup onion, diced

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt, to taste

Black pepper, to taste

4 hamburger buns

Dill pickles (optional)

Slices of cheese such as American, cheddar, or provolone (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the ground beef and diced onions into a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook the beef, breaking it up into small crumbles with a wooden spoon or spatula, until browned and the onions are softened.
  3. If there is excess grease, carefully drain it from the skillet.
  4. Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
  5. Continue cooking for 2–3 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  6. Spoon the hot meat mixture onto the bottom halves of the hamburger buns.
  7. Add dill pickles and/or slices of cheese if desired.
  8. Place the top halves of the buns on and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

Lightly toast the buns to prevent sogginess and add texture.

Ground turkey or chicken can be substituted for a leaner option.

Add mustard, ketchup, or crushed red pepper flakes for extra flavor.

Store leftover meat in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Freeze cooked meat mixture for up to 2 months in an airtight container.

Serve with chips, french fries, coleslaw, or a side salad.
