Description

Crispy, savory shrimp toast made with juicy shrimp, fragrant herbs, and golden-fried bread — an easy, restaurant-quality appetizer ready in just 25 minutes.


Ingredients

½ pound Shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 tablespoon Olive Oil

¼ cup Chopped Cilantro (or parsley)

2 Scallions, finely chopped

1 teaspoon Ginger, grated

¼ teaspoon Sesame Oil

½ teaspoon Sugar

½ teaspoon Salt

2 teaspoons Cornstarch

1 Egg White

4 slices White Sandwich Bread

2 tablespoons Toasted Sesame Seeds

Vegetable Oil (for frying)


Instructions

  1. In a food processor, blend olive oil until smooth.
  2. Add shrimp, cilantro, scallions, ginger, sesame oil, sugar, salt, cornstarch, and egg white. Process until smooth and cohesive.
  3. Spread the shrimp mixture evenly across each slice of bread.
  4. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top and press them gently to adhere.
  5. Cut each slice diagonally into four triangles.
  6. Heat about ⅛ inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  7. Place the triangles shrimp-side down and fry for 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Flip and cook the other side for 1 minute.
  9. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.
  10. Serve hot with dipping sauces of choice.

Notes

Use gluten-free bread to make this recipe gluten-free.

For a spicier version, add chili paste or red pepper flakes.

To reheat, place in a 350°F oven or air fryer for 5–6 minutes.

Can be baked at 400°F for 10–12 minutes instead of frying.

Freeze uncooked pieces and fry directly from frozen when ready.

Serve with sweet chili sauce, soy-vinegar dip, or spicy mayo.
