Description
A quick, hearty Middle Eastern–inspired dish featuring creamy hummus topped with warmly spiced beef mince, toasted pine nuts, herbs, and fresh greens—perfect with soft flatbread for scooping.
Ingredients
- Beef Mince:
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 500 g lean beef mince
- 1/2 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
- To Serve:
- 500 g store-bought hummus, room temperature
- 30 g pine nuts, toasted
- Fresh parsley and mint
- Fresh rocket leaves
- Flatbread
- Olive oil or chilli oil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until softened.
- Add garlic and cook 1 minute. Add beef mince and cook, breaking it up, until browned.
- Stir in allspice, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper. Cook 2 more minutes.
- Spread the hummus onto a large plate.
- Spoon the hot spiced beef over the hummus.
- Top with toasted pine nuts, chopped parsley and mint, rocket leaves, and a drizzle of olive oil or chilli oil.
- Serve immediately with warm flatbread.

- Warm the hummus slightly for a cozier dish.

- Add mushrooms or zucchini for extra texture.
