Description

Honey Butter Mashed Sweet Potatoes are a creamy, cozy side dish made with sweet potatoes, honey, butter, and a hint of cinnamon. They’re naturally sweet, velvety smooth, and perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped

4 tbsp unsalted butter

1/4 cup raw honey

1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the sweet potatoes into uniform chunks. Place them in a large pot filled with cold water.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook 15–20 minutes, until fork-tender. Drain well.
  3. Return the drained potatoes to the pot and mash until smooth.
  4. Stir in butter and honey while the potatoes are still warm, allowing them to melt in.
  5. Gradually mix in milk or cream until desired consistency is reached.
  6. Add cinnamon and salt, then taste and adjust seasoning or sweetness as needed.
  7. Serve warm.

Notes

Add nutmeg or cloves for deeper fall flavor.

Use heavy cream instead of milk for extra creaminess.

Make it dairy-free by using coconut oil and almond or coconut milk.

Top with toasted pecans for crunch.

Roast sweet potatoes instead of boiling for a caramelized flavor.

Store leftovers in the fridge up to 4 days or freeze up to 2 months.
