Description
Honey Butter Mashed Sweet Potatoes are a creamy, cozy side dish made with sweet potatoes, honey, butter, and a hint of cinnamon. They’re naturally sweet, velvety smooth, and perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
2 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup raw honey
1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Peel and chop the sweet potatoes into uniform chunks. Place them in a large pot filled with cold water.
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook 15–20 minutes, until fork-tender. Drain well.
- Return the drained potatoes to the pot and mash until smooth.
- Stir in butter and honey while the potatoes are still warm, allowing them to melt in.
- Gradually mix in milk or cream until desired consistency is reached.
- Add cinnamon and salt, then taste and adjust seasoning or sweetness as needed.
- Serve warm.
Notes
Add nutmeg or cloves for deeper fall flavor.
Use heavy cream instead of milk for extra creaminess.
Make it dairy-free by using coconut oil and almond or coconut milk.
Top with toasted pecans for crunch.
Roast sweet potatoes instead of boiling for a caramelized flavor.
Store leftovers in the fridge up to 4 days or freeze up to 2 months.
