Description

These Homemade Peppermint Patties are the perfect combination of creamy, minty filling and smooth, glossy chocolate. A simple, homemade version of the classic treat, these peppermint patties are easy to make and customizable with your choice of chocolate. They also make a great gift for the holidays!

Ingredients

For the Filling:

2 cups powdered sugar

¼ cup softened butter

1 tablespoon heavy cream (or milk)

1 teaspoon peppermint extract

For the Chocolate Coating:

2 cups chocolate chips

1 tablespoon coconut oil (or vegetable shortening)

Instructions

  • Make the Filling:
In a mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar, butter, heavy cream, and peppermint extract. Stir until smooth. Shape the mixture into small balls and flatten them into discs.

  • Chill:
Place the discs on a tray and refrigerate for 1 hour to firm up.

  • Prepare the Chocolate:
In a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, melt chocolate chips and coconut oil together until smooth, stirring occasionally.

  • Dip the Discs:
Dip each disc into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Place the coated discs on a parchment-lined tray.

  • Set the Chocolate:
Refrigerate the patties for 30 minutes or until the chocolate coating has hardened.

  • Serve:
Once the chocolate is set, enjoy your homemade peppermint patties!
