- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
- ½ cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough:
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add warm milk, melted butter, and salt. Gradually mix in the flour until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the Dough:
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Knead for 8–10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- First Rise:
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Loaf:
- Punch down the dough. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover loosely and let it rise for 30–45 minutes.
- Bake:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool and Serve:
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- For whole wheat bread, substitute half of the flour with whole wheat flour.
- To check yeast activity, dissolve it in warm water with sugar and ensure it becomes frothy.
- Avoid over-proofing to maintain the bread’s fluffy texture.
