Description
A hearty casserole with ground beef, green beans, creamy mushroom sauce, and a crispy topping of cheddar cheese and French fried onions.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 can (15 oz) green beans, drained
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup French fried onions
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until fully browned. Drain any excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the browned ground beef with the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt and pepper. Stir until well combined.
- Spread the beef and green bean mixture evenly into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, sprinkle the French fried onions over the top and bake for an additional 5–10 minutes, or until the onions are golden and crispy.

For a spicier dish, add crushed red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
Can be frozen before baking. Just assemble, cover tightly, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before baking.
Use low-fat or dairy-free substitutes if needed, such as dairy-free cheese or milk.
