Description

Garlic Swirl Rolls are a delicious combination of fluffy, soft bread and a savory garlic-herb filling, perfect for any meal. These homemade rolls are ideal as a side dish, snack, or addition to soups. With a tender dough and aromatic garlic flavor, they are sure to be a hit at dinner parties, holidays, or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • All-purpose flour
  • Active dry yeast
  • Warm milk
  • Granulated sugar
  • Unsalted butter (melted)
  • Large eggs
  • Salt

For the Filling:

  • Unsalted butter (softened)
  • Garlic cloves (minced)
  • Fresh parsley (chopped or dried)
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Optional Topping:

  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Additional parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough:
    • Combine warm milk and sugar in a large bowl. Sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
    • Add melted butter, eggs, and salt. Whisk to combine.
    • Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  • Prepare the Filling:
    • In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper.
  • Assemble the Rolls:
    • Punch the risen dough down. Roll it into a 12×18-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
    • Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the dough.
    • Roll the dough from the long edge into a log, sealing the seam.
    • Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
  • Second Rise:
    • Place the sliced rolls, cut-side up, into a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes until puffy.
  • Bake:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Optionally sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
    • Garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Cheese Twist: Add shredded cheese like mozzarella or cheddar to the filling for a cheesy version.
  • Herb Variations: Try adding rosemary, thyme, or basil for different flavors.
  • Spicy Kick: Include red pepper flakes in the filling for a touch of heat.
