Description

Garlic Swirl Rolls are a soft, fluffy, and savory bread option packed with rich garlic butter and herbs. Perfect as a side dish for pasta, soups, or even as a snack, these homemade rolls are easy to make and bursting with flavor. With a buttery, garlicky swirl in every bite, they’ll be a crowd-pleaser at any meal.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For the Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Extra parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast: In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Prepare the Dough: Add melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually mix in flour and knead until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  • Make the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper to create the filling.
  • Shape the Rolls: Roll the dough into a large rectangle, spread the garlic butter evenly, roll it up tightly, and slice into 12 pieces.
  • Second Rise: Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30-45 minutes.
  • Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before baking.
  • Serve: Garnish with extra parsley and enjoy warm.

Notes

  • Cheese Add-ins: Mix shredded mozzarella or cheddar into the garlic filling for extra cheesiness.
  • Herb Variations: Swap parsley for rosemary or thyme for a different flavor profile.
  • Onion Addition: Add caramelized onions to the filling for a richer taste.
