Description

This Garlic Parmesan Focaccia Bread is soft, fluffy, and bursting with savory flavors. Infused with garlic, Parmesan cheese, and olive oil, it’s a perfect addition to any meal, whether as a side, snack, or appetizer. Easy to make and incredibly flavorful, this bread will quickly become a favorite in your kitchen.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

2 tsp instant yeast

1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

1 ½ cups warm water

¼ cup olive oil (plus extra for drizzling)

For the Topping:

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tbsp dried parsley)

1 tsp garlic powder

Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  • Mix the Dough:
In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm water and olive oil, and mix until the dough starts to form.

  • Knead the Dough:
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 5-7 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.

  • First Rise:
Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

  • Shape the Dough:
Punch the dough down to release any air bubbles. Press the dough into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan. Use your fingers to make dimples all over the surface.

  • Topping & Resting:
In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, and Parmesan. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the dough. Drizzle the dough with olive oil, then let it rest for 20-30 minutes to allow it to rise slightly.

  • Bake the Focaccia:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and crispy on top.

  • Serve:
Let the focaccia cool slightly before slicing and serving warm. Enjoy this soft, savory bread with your favorite dishes!

Notes

Variations:

Add-Ins: Try incorporating olives, sun-dried tomatoes, or additional cheese like mozzarella or cheddar directly into the dough for added flavor.

Herb Variations: Swap parsley for fresh thyme, rosemary, or basil to customize the flavor of your focaccia.

Storage:

To Store: Store leftover focaccia in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days.

To Freeze: Freeze slices for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
