Ingredients
For the Dough:
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp instant yeast
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 ½ cups warm water
¼ cup olive oil (plus extra for drizzling)
For the Topping:
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tbsp dried parsley)
1 tsp garlic powder
Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
-
Mix the Dough:
In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add warm water and olive oil, and mix until the dough starts to form. -
Knead the Dough:
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 5-7 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. -
First Rise:
Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size. -
Shape the Dough:
Punch the dough down to release any air bubbles. Press the dough into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan. Use your fingers to make dimples all over the surface. -
Topping & Resting:
In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, and Parmesan. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the dough. Drizzle the dough with olive oil, then let it rest for 20-30 minutes to allow it to rise slightly. -
Bake the Focaccia:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and crispy on top. -
Serve:
Let the focaccia cool slightly before slicing and serving warm. Enjoy this soft, savory bread with your favorite dishes!
