Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free alternative)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter version)
- 3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then lightly dredge them in flour, shaking off the excess.
- Sear the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear the chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the butter, then sauté the minced garlic until fragrant. Deglaze with chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
- Add the Cream & Cheese: Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, basil, and oregano. Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Simmer the Chicken: Return the chicken to the skillet, coating it in the sauce. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked.
- Finish & Serve: Stir in lemon juice for brightness, then serve hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
- Vegetable Add-Ins: Try adding spinach, mushrooms, or sun-dried tomatoes for extra depth.
- Spicy Twist: Add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
- Lighter Version: Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
- Gluten-Free Option: Use cornstarch instead of flour for dredging.
