Description

Garlic Chicken with Asiago Gravy features pan-seared chicken breasts smothered in a rich, creamy garlic Asiago sauce. It’s a comforting, indulgent meal perfect for pairing with mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and black pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon butter

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup heavy cream

3/4 cup grated Asiago cheese

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)

Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and sear for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Add butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Sprinkle in the flour and whisk continuously for about 1 minute to create a roux.
  5. Gradually pour in the chicken broth, whisking to avoid lumps. Let the sauce simmer for 2 minutes.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream and grated Asiago cheese, mixing until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth. Add dried thyme, if desired.
  7. Return the chicken breasts to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top. Let the dish simmer for 3-5 minutes, or until the chicken is heated through and the sauce thickens slightly.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately with mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.

Notes

Substitute the Asiago cheese with Parmesan, Gruyère, or mozzarella for a different flavor.

Bone-in chicken can be used, but increase cooking time.

For a vegan version, replace the chicken with tofu or tempeh and use dairy-free cream and cheese.

Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce for a spicy variation.

For a lower-carb option, serve with cauliflower rice or zucchini noodles.
