Description
Frozen Hibiscus Lemonade is a refreshing and tangy treat made by combining floral hibiscus flowers with zesty lemonade, frozen to icy perfection. This vibrant, easy-to-make beverage is the perfect summer refresher, offering a unique twist on your classic lemonade.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups hibiscus flowers
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/4 cup honey
2 cups ice
1/2 cup cold water
Instructions
- Prepare the Hibiscus Infusion: In a medium saucepan, bring 1 1/2 cups of water to a boil. Add the hibiscus flowers and stir gently. Reduce the heat and let the hibiscus flowers steep for about 10 minutes.
- Strain the Mixture: After steeping, strain the hibiscus mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl, pressing lightly to extract all the liquid.
- Cool the Infusion: Let the hibiscus infusion cool to room temperature, or place it in the fridge to speed up the process.
- Blend the Lemonade: Once cooled, pour the hibiscus infusion into a blender. Add 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/4 cup honey, 2 cups ice, and 1/2 cup cold water.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high speed until the mixture becomes smooth and slushy. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more honey if desired.
- Serve: Pour the frozen lemonade into glasses and serve immediately. Garnish with extra lemon slices or a sprig of mint for an added touch.
Notes
If you don’t have fresh hibiscus flowers, you can use hibiscus tea bags or dried hibiscus petals.
If you prefer a less sweet drink, reduce the amount of honey or use a sugar substitute like stevia.
For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or ginger to the blend.
Feel free to adjust the ice and water to make it more or less slushy based on your preference.
For an adult twist, try adding a splash of vodka or rum for a refreshing cocktail version.
