Description

French Onion Butter Rice is a rich, savory side dish that combines the flavors of French onion soup with buttery rice. Easy to make and full of deep, comforting flavors, this dish is perfect for a weeknight dinner or paired with any main course.

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups long grain rice (uncooked)

14.5 oz can of beef broth

10.5 oz can of French onion soup

1 stick of cold butter

Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

  • In an 8×8-inch baking dish, evenly spread the uncooked rice.

  • Pour the beef broth and French onion soup over the rice.

  • Slice the cold butter into pats and layer it evenly over the rice and soup mixture.

  • Cover the dish with tin foil and bake for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, remove the foil and bake for another 25 minutes.

  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Add sautéed or caramelized onions for extra flavor.

For a lighter option, substitute vegetable broth for beef broth.

Stir in some shredded cheese like cheddar or parmesan for a cheesy twist.

This dish can be prepared ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
