Description

A fun and flavorful dinner featuring a golden, crispy Stromboli filled with mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, bell peppers, and olives, served with marinara for dipping.

Ingredients

1 large pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup marinara sauce (for dipping)

1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

1/2 cup pepperoni slices

1/2 cup cooked Italian sausage, crumbled

1/2 cup bell peppers, thinly sliced (red and green)

1/4 cup black olives, sliced

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Flaky sea salt, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangular shape (about 12×16 inches).
  3. Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Follow with the pepperoni, crumbled sausage, bell peppers, and black olives.
  4. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the top of the fillings.
  5. Starting from one of the shorter sides, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Pinch the seams to seal and tuck the ends underneath the Stromboli to prevent any filling from leaking out.
  6. Brush the outside of the Stromboli with the beaten egg to give it a golden finish.
  7. Using a sharp knife, make 3-4 diagonal slashes on top of the Stromboli to allow steam to escape during baking.
  8. Lightly drizzle olive oil and sprinkle flaky sea salt on top. Place the Stromboli on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Allow the Stromboli to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Leftover Stromboli can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes for the best texture.

If you want to make the Stromboli ahead of time, assemble it the day before and refrigerate until ready to bake.

To make the Stromboli spicier, add spicy pepperoni or drizzle hot sauce inside before rolling.

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free pizza dough.

For smaller servings, divide the dough into individual portions and adjust the baking time to 15-20 minutes.
