Description

An easy homemade bread with a crisp golden crust and a soft, fluffy interior, made with just a few simple ingredients and no special equipment.

Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

2¼ teaspoons dry yeast (1 packet)

1½ teaspoons salt

1½ cups warm water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, dry yeast, and salt.
  2. Slowly add the warm water while stirring until a sticky, shaggy dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1½ to 2 hours.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently shape it into a loaf.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet or into a loaf pan.
  7. Bake for about 35 minutes, until the loaf is golden and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

A sticky dough helps create a soft and airy interior.

Warm water should feel comfortable to the touch, not hot.

Add herbs, seeds, or garlic powder for flavor variations.

Let the bread cool slightly before slicing so the crumb sets properly.
