Description
Easy Holiday Crabbies are bite-sized, cheesy crab treats made with English muffins, crab meat, and a creamy cheese spread, broiled to golden perfection. A quick, crowd-pleasing appetizer for any occasion.
Ingredients
1 package (6) English muffins, split
1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
1 (5 oz) jar Kraft Old English cheese spread or equivalent processed cheese
1 (6 oz) can crab meat (drained well) or imitation crab, chopped
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Dash of paprika or cayenne (optional for heat)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat your broiler. Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
- Make the Crab Mixture: In a bowl, combine softened butter, cheese spread, crab meat, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Assemble the Muffins: Cut each English muffin in half. Spread a generous spoonful of the crab mixture on each muffin half. Top with shredded cheese or fresh herbs if desired.
- Broil to Perfection: Place the prepared muffins on the baking sheet and broil for 3–5 minutes, or until the tops are bubbly and golden brown. Keep a close eye on them to avoid burning.
- Serve and Enjoy: Let the Crabbies cool for 1–2 minutes. Slice each half into quarters for bite-sized pieces and serve immediately.
Notes
Imitation crab works well as a budget-friendly option, but real crab provides a richer flavor.
Feel free to experiment with different cheese spreads, although Kraft Old English is a classic choice.
Add fresh herbs, lemon zest, or cayenne for extra flavor or spice.
Crabbies can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the fridge until ready to broil.
Gluten-free English muffins can be used for a gluten-free version.
Alternatively, bake the Crabbies in a regular oven at 375°F for 10–12 minutes instead of using the broiler.
Top with additional shredded cheese or herbs for added flavor and color.
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated in the broiler or microwave.
