Description
This Easy Ground Beef Bulgogi is a quick and flavorful Korean-inspired dish featuring caramelized ground beef in a sweet, savory, and nutty sauce made with soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and sesame oil. Served over white rice and topped with green onions, sesame seeds, and a soft-boiled egg, it’s a comforting meal ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger (optional)
2 teaspoons sesame oil
2 green onions, chopped
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
2 cups cooked white rice
2 soft-boiled eggs (optional)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Pour the mixture over the beef and stir to coat evenly.
- Let the beef and sauce simmer for 3–4 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the meat.
- Stir in the chopped green onions and remove the skillet from heat.
- Serve the beef mixture over hot white rice, top with a soft-boiled egg if desired, and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
Add gochujang or sriracha for extra spice.
For a low-carb option, serve over cauliflower rice or lettuce wraps.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave with a splash of soy sauce or water.
