Description

Easy Breakfast Cheese Danish combines flaky puff pastry with a creamy cream cheese filling, topped with a sweet glaze. Perfect for brunch or a morning treat, it’s quick to prepare and guaranteed to impress.

Ingredients

1 sheet pre-made puff pastry (thawed)

8 oz cream cheese (softened)

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg yolk

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Cream Cheese Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg yolk. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about an eighth-inch thick. Cut the pastry into squares, each about 4 inches in size.
  4. Assemble the Pastries: Place the pastry squares on the prepared baking sheet. Scoop the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each square. Fold opposite corners of the pastry towards the center or leave them open-faced for a traditional look.
  5. Bake: Bake the pastries for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
  6. Prepare the Glaze: While the danishes are cooling, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to create a smooth glaze.
  7. Finish and Serve: Drizzle the glaze over the warm danishes before serving. Enjoy immediately!

Notes

Fruit Filling: Add fruit preserves like raspberry or apricot with the cream cheese mixture for a fruity twist.

Nutty Topping: Sprinkle chopped nuts (almonds or walnuts) on top for added crunch.

Cinnamon Sugar: Add cinnamon sugar to the pastry for a spicy note.
