Description
A hearty, crowd-pleasing Dorito Casserole made with seasoned halal meat, creamy layers, melty cheese, and crunchy Doritos, all baked together into a comforting and flavorful dish.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef or chicken (Halal)
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 packet halal taco seasoning
1 can (10.5 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies
1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed (optional)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
3 cups Dorito chips, crushed
1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
1 cup salsa (optional)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté onion until soft.
- Add ground beef or chicken and cook until fully browned.
- Drain excess fat, then stir in taco seasoning and diced tomatoes.
- Season with salt and pepper and mix in black beans if using.
- Spread a layer of crushed Doritos in the baking dish.
- Add the meat mixture evenly over the Doritos.
- Spread sour cream over the meat layer.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly on top.
- Finish with another layer of crushed Doritos.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly, garnish with cilantro if desired, and serve.
Notes
Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter option.
Spicy taco seasoning or jalapeños can add extra heat.
Best enjoyed fresh for maximum crunch.
Nacho Cheese Doritos are classic, but other flavors work well.
