Description

Dill Pickle Cheese Ball is the perfect appetizer combining creamy cheese, tangy dill pickles, and sharp cheddar cheese. Coated in fresh dill, cheddar, and lemon zest, it’s an irresistible treat for any gathering. Quick and easy to prepare, this appetizer will be the hit of your next party or game day!

Ingredients

For the Cheese Ball Mixture:

16 oz cream cheese, softened

4 tbsp sour cream

½ tsp garlic powder

1 tsp lemon juice

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 ½ cups chopped dill pickles

2 tbsp fresh chopped dill

For the Coating:

½ cup shredded or chopped cheddar cheese

1 tbsp fresh chopped dill

1 tsp lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Mix the Cheese Ball Base:

    • Using a hand mixer, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, lemon juice, salt, and pepper for 1–2 minutes until smooth and fluffy.

    • Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped dill pickles, and fresh dill. Mix until well combined.

  2. Form the Cheese Ball:

    • Lay two long strips of plastic wrap in an ‘X’ shape on a flat surface. Spoon the cheese mixture into the center.

    • Bring the edges of the plastic wrap together, closing the top to form a ball.

    • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to firm up.

  3. Coat the Cheese Ball:

    • Spread the shredded cheddar cheese, fresh dill, and lemon zest on a flat surface.

    • Unwrap the cheese ball and roll it in the mixture, pressing gently to coat the entire surface.

  4. Serve:

    • Transfer the coated cheese ball to a platter and serve with crackers, chips, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

Spicy Kick: Add finely chopped jalapeños or red pepper flakes to the cheese mixture for a spicy version.

Cheese Variety: Swap cheddar for other cheeses like mozzarella or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.

Pickle Alternative: Use dill relish instead of chopped pickles for a different texture. Just be sure to drain it well.

Non-Dairy Version: Substitute dairy-free cream cheese, sour cream, and cheese for a plant-based option.

Lemon Juice Substitute: If you prefer, substitute lemon juice with vinegar.
