Description

These Crockpot Little Smokies are tender cocktail sausages simmered in a sweet and tangy barbecue sauce. With just a few ingredients and minimal prep, they make the perfect crowd-pleasing appetizer for parties, holidays, or game days.

Ingredients

2 packages little smokies (1214 ounces each)

1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup ketchup

1 tablespoon soy sauce substitute

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Place the little smokies in the bowl of a crockpot.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce substitute, onion powder, and garlic powder until smooth.
  3. Pour the sauce over the sausages and stir to coat evenly.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 2–3 hours, stirring once or twice during cooking, until heated through and the sauce has thickened.
  5. Switch the crockpot to the WARM setting for serving.

Notes

Add hot sauce or chili flakes for a spicy kick.

Mix in a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar or pineapple juice for tanginess.

Use chicken or turkey sausages for a lighter option.

Stir in grape jelly or cranberry sauce for a sweet variation.

Lightly spray the crockpot with nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
