These Crockpot Little Smokies are tender cocktail sausages simmered in a sweet and tangy barbecue sauce. With just a few ingredients and minimal prep, they make the perfect crowd-pleasing appetizer for parties, holidays, or game days.
Ingredients
2 packages little smokies (12–14 ounces each)
1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon soy sauce substitute
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Place the little smokies in the bowl of a crockpot.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce substitute, onion powder, and garlic powder until smooth.
- Pour the sauce over the sausages and stir to coat evenly.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 2–3 hours, stirring once or twice during cooking, until heated through and the sauce has thickened.
- Switch the crockpot to the WARM setting for serving.
Notes
Add hot sauce or chili flakes for a spicy kick.
Mix in a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar or pineapple juice for tanginess.
Use chicken or turkey sausages for a lighter option.
Stir in grape jelly or cranberry sauce for a sweet variation.
