This Classic Mustard Sauce is a tangy and slightly sweet condiment that elevates the flavors of a variety of dishes, including roasted meats, grilled vegetables, and even pretzels. Quick to prepare in just 10 minutes, it’s a versatile and easy-to-make sauce that will become a staple in your kitchen.

Ingredients

  • White vinegar
  • Dry mustard powder
  • Large egg (beaten)
  • White sugar

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Mustard Mixture – In a small bowl, whisk together white vinegar and dry mustard powder until smooth.
2️⃣ Mix Egg and Sugar – In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk the beaten egg and white sugar until well combined.
3️⃣ Combine and Cook – Slowly pour the vinegar-mustard mixture into the egg-sugar mixture. Stir constantly and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes, until the sauce is heated through and slightly thickened.
4️⃣ Serve – Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Honey Mustard Sauce – Add 2 tablespoons of honey for a sweeter flavor.
Spicy Mustard Sauce – Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce for some heat.
Creamy Mustard Sauce – Stir in 1/4 cup of sour cream or mayonnaise after removing from heat for a creamy texture.
