Description

Classic Apple Crumble Pie with Oats is a warm, comforting dessert made with tart apples, cinnamon, and a golden oat topping. It’s simple to prepare, rustic in texture, and perfect for autumn evenings or family gatherings, especially when served with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

6 cups Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and sliced

3/4 cup light brown sugar

2 tsp ground cinnamon

1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 tbsp lemon juice

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon until evenly coated.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture is crumbly.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into a greased pie dish and spread the crumble topping evenly over the top.
  5. Bake for about 45 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  6. Cool for at least 15 minutes before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for more depth of flavor.

Add cranberries, pears, or nuts for variation.

Reheat leftovers in the oven at 325°F for about 10 minutes to keep the topping crisp.

To make gluten-free, substitute gluten-free flour and oats.

The pie freezes well for up to 2 months if tightly wrapped.
