Description

Thick slices of cinnamon swirl bread dipped in a spiced custard, cooked until golden, and drizzled with a sweet glaze. This cinnamon roll French toast is quick, indulgent, and perfect for a cozy breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

8 slices cinnamon swirl bread

3 large eggs

1 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

Butter or oil for cooking

Creamy Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tbsp milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg to make the custard.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter or oil.
  3. Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture, coating both sides.
  4. Cook bread slices 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  6. Drizzle glaze over French toast before serving.

Notes

Swap glaze with cream cheese drizzle for extra richness.

Add toppings like chopped pecans, walnuts, berries, or whipped cream.

For a holiday twist, use eggnog instead of milk or add pumpkin spice.

Storage: Refrigerate up to 2 days. Reheat in skillet or oven for best texture.

Freeze cooked slices between parchment and reheat in toaster oven or skillet.
