Description

Churros Poppers are crispy, golden, bite-sized treats that deliver the perfect combination of a crunchy exterior and soft, airy interior. Coated with cinnamon sugar and served with a delicious dipping sauce, these churros are an irresistible snack or dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

1 cup water

2 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Vegetable oil for frying

1/2 cup sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Stir and bring to a simmer until the butter melts.
  2. Add the Flour: Add 1 cup of all-purpose flour all at once. Stir vigorously until the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Cool the Dough: Remove the saucepan from heat and let the dough cool for about 5 minutes.
  4. Incorporate the Eggs: Gradually add the eggs to the dough, stirring after each addition until smooth and glossy. Add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  5. Heat the Oil: In a large deep pan, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) for frying.
  6. Pipe the Dough: Transfer the dough to a piping bag with a large star tip. Pipe 3-4 inch long churros into the hot oil, frying in batches.
  7. Fry the Churros: Fry the churros for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove with tongs or a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  8. Coat in Cinnamon Sugar: In a shallow bowl, combine 1/2 cup of sugar with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Roll the warm churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
  9. Serve: Serve immediately with chocolate or caramel dipping sauce, and enjoy!

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute eggs with flaxseed or chia egg replacements.

If you prefer a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the cinnamon-sugar coating.

To make the churros gluten-free, use a gluten-free flour blend.

For best results, fry the churros in small batches to ensure they remain crispy and golden.
