Description

Chicken Pillows are a cozy, family-friendly dinner made with creamy chicken filling wrapped in golden crescent roll dough and topped with rich chicken gravy. Quick to prepare and versatile, they’re perfect for weeknights or even campfire cooking.

Ingredients

16 oz crescent roll dough, refrigerated

3 cups cooked chicken, chopped or shredded

8 oz cream cheese, softened

4 green onions, diced

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon salt, or to taste

½ teaspoon granulated garlic

½ teaspoon sweet paprika

½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

0.87 oz chicken gravy mix

10.5 oz condensed cream of chicken soup

1 cup water

¼ teaspoon sweet paprika

¼ teaspoon black pepper

¼ teaspoon granulated garlic

2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix chicken, cream cheese, green onions, and seasonings until smooth.
  3. Press two crescent roll triangles together to form a rectangle.
  4. Place a scoop of filling in the center, fold dough over, and seal edges to form a pillow.
  5. Arrange pillows in a cast iron skillet or baking dish.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Meanwhile, prepare gravy: whisk gravy mix, condensed soup, water, paprika, black pepper, and garlic in a skillet. Bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer until thickened. Stir in chopped chives.
  8. Serve chicken pillows hot, topped with gravy and more chives.
  9. Camp Oven Option: Bake covered in a camp oven over hot coals for 15–30 minutes, checking doneness.

Notes

Add shredded cheddar or mozzarella for a cheesy twist.

Incorporate mushrooms, spinach, or broccoli for extra vegetables.

Spice it up with red pepper flakes or jalapeños.

Swap chicken with turkey for holiday leftovers.

Freeze unbaked pillows and bake straight from frozen with extra cooking time.
