Description
A simple, refreshing vegan snack featuring sour grapes coated in a crunchy candied sugar layer and frozen for a sweet-tart treat perfect for warm days.
Ingredients
4 cups cleaned green grapes, organic
1 cup organic cane sugar
2 limes, freshly squeezed (or lemon juice)
2–3 teaspoons citric acid (optional)
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine grapes and lime juice. Stir until grapes are fully coated. Chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes. If using citric acid, add it during this step.
- Pour sugar into a small bowl. Remove grapes from fridge and toss each grape individually in sugar. Place coated grapes side by side on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all grapes are coated.
- Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and place in the freezer. Freeze for 2–3 hours until completely frozen.
- Remove frozen grapes and transfer to zip-top bags or airtight containers for easy snacking.
Notes
Substitute cane sugar with erythritol, organic stevia, or your preferred sweetener.
Use red or black grapes for different color and flavor.
Add a pinch of cinnamon or chili powder to the sugar for a spicy twist.
Use lemon juice instead of lime for a slightly different tang.
