Description

These Breakfast Rolls are warm, savory, and filled with a variety of delicious ingredients, offering a perfect start to your day. With fluffy dough and customizable fillings like sausage, cheese, and veggies, they are ideal for both busy mornings and leisurely brunches.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 packet active dry yeast

3/4 cup warm milk

1/4 cup melted butter

2 large eggs

1 cup cooked sausage, crumbled

1 cup shredded cheese

1/2 cup chopped bell peppers

1/4 cup chopped onions

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
  2. Make the Dough: Add flour, sugar, salt, melted butter, and eggs to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the Dough Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Roll Out the Dough: Roll the dough into a rectangle and cut it into squares.
  7. Fill the Squares: Place a spoonful of sausage, cheese, bell peppers, and onions in the center of each square.
  8. Roll and Bake: Roll the squares into neat rolls and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Vegetarian option: Swap sausage for sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or other vegetables.

Cheese lovers: Add extra cheese varieties like mozzarella, cheddar, or goat cheese.

Add herbs: Fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, or parsley can be added to the filling.

Sweet version: Try a sweet filling with cinnamon, sugar, and butter, topped with a glaze.

Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 5 days. Freeze for up to 3 months.
