Description

Blossom Cookies are soft and chewy sugar cookies with a delightful surprise of a melt-in-your-mouth chocolate kiss in the center. These cookies are rolled in sugar for an added crunch and perfectly sweet finish, making them ideal for holidays, cookie exchanges, or just because. With a buttery base and a rich chocolate center, they combine two timeless favorites in one irresistible treat.

Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon milk

¼ cup granulated sugar (for rolling)

24 chocolate kiss candies, unwrapped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream the Butter and Sugar:
In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. You can use an electric mixer on medium speed to make this step easier.
  4. Add the Wet Ingredients:
Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and milk until well combined.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  6. Shape the Dough:
Scoop 1-tablespoon portions of dough and roll each portion into a ball.
  7. Roll in Sugar:
Roll each dough ball in granulated sugar, coating it evenly, and place them on the baking sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake the Cookies:
Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the tops are set.
  9. Add the Chocolate Kisses:
Remove the cookies from the oven and immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie. The heat from the cookie will slightly melt the chocolate.
  10. Cool the Cookies:
Let the cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Serve and Enjoy:
These cookies are best enjoyed fresh, with a soft, chewy texture and that delicious chocolate center. They’re perfect for any occasion!

Notes

Feel free to substitute the chocolate kisses with other types of chocolate or even peanut butter cups for a fun twist!

These cookies can also be decorated with icing for a festive touch, especially for holidays.
