Ingredients
2 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
1 sheet store-bought puff pastry, thawed
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, toss diced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice until evenly coated.
- Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into 3-inch squares.
- Spoon a small amount of apple mixture into the center of each square.
- Fold pastry over to form triangles or rectangles, pressing edges with a fork to seal.
- Brush tops with beaten egg for a golden shine.
- Arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
Sprinkle coarse sugar on top before baking for added crunch.
Add a pinch of nutmeg or allspice to the apple filling for deeper flavor.
Drizzle with a powdered sugar glaze once cooled for extra sweetness.
Drain excess liquid from the apple mixture to prevent soggy pastry.
Can be frozen unbaked and baked straight from frozen (add a few minutes).
