Description
A fun twist on the classic egg in a hole, this Air Fryer Waffle Egg in a Hole combines a crispy waffle with a perfectly cooked egg in the center, offering both sweet and savory flavors in a quick, delicious breakfast.
Ingredients
1 frozen waffle
1 large egg
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons shredded cheese
Maple syrup to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Using the rim of a cup or glass, cut a hole in the center of the frozen waffle (about 2 to 3 inches in diameter). Set the waffle aside.
- Move the waffle to a square of parchment paper. Then, carefully place the parchment paper with the waffle into the preheated air fryer, along with the small center piece of the waffle.
- Crack the egg directly into the center of the waffle hole. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Close the air fryer lid and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes, or until the egg white starts to set.
- Remove the small center waffle from the air fryer. Sprinkle shredded cheese onto the egg waffle and cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the egg white is fully set.
- Transfer the egg waffle to a plate, drizzle with maple syrup, and serve immediately.
Notes
You can use different types of cheese like cheddar, mozzarella, or Parmesan for variety.
Add hot sauce if you like a spicy kick.
Other toppings like avocado slices or sautéed spinach can be added for extra flavor.
